As much as I love shopping to add new pieces to my wardrobe, there’s something equally exciting about “shopping” from your preexisting closet. I’ve been making a conscious effort to not shop as much in recent months, and I must admit while it was hard at first it feels really good now. In fact, I don’t think I’ve bought an item of clothing in close to two months. I did order a couple of pieces this week, but they came in the mail yesterday and I didn’t love them so they’re getting sent back (gotta love free shipping!).
Back to shopping from your current selection of clothes. Some of my favorite fashion moments are when I find something in my closet I totally forgot about. My clothes are so jam-packed in my closet that sometimes pieces get totally buried in the madness and they’re out of sight for the foreseeable future. That was the case with this plaid blazer I’m wearing today. It originally belonged to my mom, but she did a big closet purge earlier this year and I decided to sift through her pile of clothes before she donated them. When I came across this plaid blazer I immediately slipped it on and was so happy when it fit!
It’s been so warm these past few months that I never really got a chance to wear layers. It was pretty much a light dress or a skirt and a sleeveless top. Now that it’s cooled down a bit I’m trying to get back into the mindset of mixing and matching different layered pieces. This black and white bow blouse has been a favorite of mine for a few years now (see other outfits with the bow blouse here), and it’s proven to be a very versatile top!
