HM Jersey Skirt with Nasty Gal Top

Today I embark on my first trip of the summer. My boyfriend and I are heading to New York this weekend! We’re actually road tripping it there instead of flying, so it’s going to be interesting being in the car for so long. I’ll be heading up to Cleveland today, and then going to New York on Thursday.  I keep forgetting that I want to buy an iPhone adapter for my car, but if I do forget before I leave, I have the Spice Girls and Aqua CD’s on reserve. Those two have been in my car for years, and are always a safe choice for long drives! Yes, I miss the 90s.

This skirt was a recent H&M buy, and I’m really surprised how much I’ve grown to like it. I don’t really shop at H&M because the cute stuff I see online is never in the store. In a major lapse in judgment a few weeks ago, I had purchased a onesie from the store. It wasn’t my intention to spend $20 on a unitard, but I have a good explanation. The day before I had come across a random Instagram of the cutest pink and white gingham top. It was fitted, and would have been perfect for the weekend. I creepily commented on this girl’s picture, dying to know where she got this pink and white perfection, and if it was a recent purchase (I’m a sucker for gingham). She informed me it was from H&M and she had just bought it. I basically sped to the mall the next day, and allowed myself to only go to H&M. My excitement quickly turned to puzzlement when I was immediately greeted with a pink and white onesie at the front of the store. I was totally duped. See, the girl had folded the “top” in her picture, completely hiding the fact that it was a bodysuit (complete with a velcro bottom). Since I had spent the previous day fantasizing about how I’d style this “top”, I decided I’d make it work. I even tried on multiple sizes, and settled on a size I thought was acceptable. Long story short, when I got home I had an awakening and decided to return it. I tried it on with some outfits I had pictured in my head, and it was not pretty. The words “inappropriately tight” and “farm girl” come to mind.

Alas, I had made one wise decision that day, and it was getting this skirt. I love that it goes with black or white, and let’s face it, you can’t get more comfortable than sweatshirt material! I paired it with a white Nasty Gal top today, but it’s also making the trip with me to NYC to be worn with a black long sleeve top. Unfortunately, the weather isn’t looking to pretty this weekend, so long sleeves are going to be a necessity. If you have any suggestions for what I should do on my trip this weekend, please let me know!

I know you were bummed out about that top but this skirt is amazing! And that top!! Seriously love it. I hope you have an amazing time in NYC – I don’t know if you love museums but the MET has been on our bucket list for a while because we’ve heard such great reviews on it. Weather.com says it’s supposed to be sunny and 80 on Saturday so hopefully that’s the case!
