You know when you buy something you fall in love with, but have to wait awhile to wear it? Yeah, this was one of those dresses. I got it earlier this summer, and knew it was perfect for weddings! I had made a promise to myself that I intended on keeping all summer: DO NOT BUY MORE SUMMER CLOTHES. Another promise I always try (and fail) to keep is to stop buying nice cocktail dresses. I have way too many warm weather clothes, and enough nice dresses for my own good. In my mind, I have places to wear these things, but in reality, I don’t. This is where weddings come in as the perfect excuse to need a new dress.
I love a fun dress, and this fit-and-flare shape fit the bill perfectly. Also, the sheer detailing on the neckline and bottom of the dress convinced me this was THE ultimate summer wedding option. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Dillard’s has the best dresses. Does anyone else always seem to have good luck when they go in there?
I also found a makeup brand I’ve never tried before, NYX, that I really like. I was looking for a vibrant pink color to pop against the dress, and couldn’t pass this up at Ulta. Also, the price? Less than $5. I knew it was going to be a good weekend! It was great seeing my college friends, and the weather was perfect for a wedding. Now if only there was an extra day in between Sunday and Monday…
Dress: Sugarlips | Shoes: Lulu’s (similar) | Bracelets: Kate Spade, J.Crew | Earrings: Kate Spade
This dress is gorgeous Olivia! I think I’d have a difficult time passing up on it too. I love the variation in print and the fit and flare style. So pretty!
I love the details of this dress and how you added a pop of color with your purse!
Lovely dress and sandals 🙂 x
Love that dress! I find the fit and flare to be oh-so classic and always flattering too!
Thanks girlfriend! Fit and flares are the best!
Nice blog Olivia, some great Outfits of the Day. You have good taste in fashion and I love your use of colors too.
Thank you Charlotte!
Can I have this dress and your earrings please and thank you?!?
I know that I’ve already told you this, but I love the way you styled your hair! I am also obsessed with your dress! I’m guilty of this, but I tend to throw on stripes during the summer months because it’s casual, easy to match with my bright shorts, and comfy, but your dress is totally elevated!
This look definitely suits you! Here is another take on a flared look: http://www.fash365.com/2014/08/dare-to-flare-flared-silhouette-is-back.html
