It’s 11 p.m. on Thursday night, and I’ve hit the point of being deliriously tired. When I’m deliriously tired, my creative juices are on empty, which means I have a hard time thinking of blog post titles. I came to the conclusion that “Blazin'” would be appropriate for the following reasons: 1. I’m wearing a blazer, 2. That blazer is red (I associate heat with the color red), and 3. It was blazing hot (90 degrees) when I took these pictures. You know when you say a word so many times that it starts to not sound like a word? That’s how I’m feeling now about the word blazing now that I’ve typed it so many times in a few short sentences. *Sigh of relief* it is in fact a word. Thank you, Merriam Webster.
These pictures were taken during a lunch date with my mom yesterday at Incline Public House. My family frequents IPH at least once a week, and we’re proud of it. My dad is one of the people who helped develop the Incline District in Cincinnati, so he and I are in the neighborhood all the time for real estate business (and post-work cocktail business). I had no idea how insanely hot it was going to be, but had to wear this J.Crew Schoolboy blazer for pictures. The entire summer has gone by, and I haven’t worn this linen blazer one time. Of course, I started feeling nostalgic on the hottest day of the year and decided to wear it. Life of a fashion blogger. I also rediscovered this vintage brooch that belonged to my grandma. I’ve never worn it until now, but it’s making me want to start wearing brooches more often! I never realized how fun they are to accessorize with.
Blazer: J.Crew | Shorts: Gap | Shirt: J.Crew | Shoes: Lulu’s (similar) | Necklace: Kendra Scott c/o POPSUGAR | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban
That brooch is too sweet! It really pulls the whole outfit together.
Thanks Gina!
Wouldn’t it figure that some of the hottest days of the summer have come AFTER Labor Day?! you look adorable despite 90 degree heat. And thank you for the brooch inspiration! I have one from my grandmother That I’ve never worn. Might have to break that out.
XO
I know, right!? It’s stressing me out in the clothing department. You should definitely wear the brooch. I was surprised how modern they can look!
Beautiful look and love the heels!! The brooch is to die for too 🙂 <3 survive the heat

Fave outfit of yours, ever. I love love love everything about it. Cute casual look but still mature and business-like. Definitely appropriate for cocktails on the hottest day in Cincinnati! 🙂 Sweet of you to incorporate your grandmother’s brooch, too.
Thank you Quin!! That’s so nice of you!
You look adorable! I love the heels, color of your blazer and the length of those sweet denim shorts. It is the perfect outfit for lunch with mom. So cool that you all still live in the same place and can visit so often!
Thanks Bethann! I’m spoiled being so close to my mom. I don’t know what I’d do if I ever move away from Ohio!
Love the blazer. I am such a fan of brooches and in fact also have one of my grans. Love how they add something special to an outfit.

Thank you! I’m getting really into brooches myself!
I love that blazer! The color is fantastic.
Thank you Leslie!
I am loving orange for fall and I think this will be a very easy piece to carry over! How did you manage to go all summer without wearing this bad boy?? In San Francisco this would have been a staple!

I bought it a few years back on major sale, and the only size was way too small! But I bought it anyway because I couldn’t let it go. It makes very few blog appearances for that reason 😉
So that Seattle visit you are planning, make sure to pack this blazer (I can’t promise it will make the trip home though!).
xx Cara
Haha it will definitely be in the suitcase! We’re actually trying to plan a family trip out there for maybe next year sometime (fingers crossed). Can’t believe it’s almost been a year since our coffee date 🙁
