Happy first day of fall, everyone! I say that fighting back tears that summer is in fact over, and I will slowly be going into my cocoon to wait until spring is near. To clarify, I love fall fashion, but not fall weather. Fall weather leads to winter weather, after all. Oh well, I’m going to enjoy this beautiful transitional weather while it lasts!

I think I’ve found my dream black dress, and it’s all thanks to Boohoo. When I picked this dress out online, I instantly thought it was cute, but I really had no idea how much I’d love it until it arrived in the mail. My mom and I were shocked when I tried it on. It fit like a glove and is so comfortable. I’ve never really tried the tie-waist trend, but this version is so subtle, I think it works. I’ve worn this to work a few times already, and it has proven to be the perfect transitional dress. Since bright florals are no longer appropriate, I can still pretend it’s summer with no sleeves, but look fall-appropriate in black.

As much as I love this dress on its own, I wanted to add my own personal touch to it. After scouring my jewelry collection, I knew how I’d spice it up. My late grandma’s brooches were a match made in heaven with this look. I wore the black and white one last year, but loved the idea of pairing two of them together. I’m so happy with how it looks that I still haven’t unpinned them from the dress!

I think I wear a piece of my grandma’s jewelry almost every day, so I’m glad I got to wear something so close to my heart (literally and figuratively ;)).

Also, these earrings are a pair I made at the Gild Collective craft party. I’m not joking when I say I wear them almost every day! I love telling people that I made them (even when they don’t ask).

Are you a fan of brooches? I think they are such a fun and different way to accessorize. In fact, I want to add a lot more to my collection. I have a feeling this could become an expensive interest!
