Now that my wedding is over, I feel like my creative juices are starting to flow again. As magical as the wedding was and as much as I’d love to relive that weekend again and again, I think all married people can agree there’s a sort of weight lifted off when it’s over. It takes up so much of your headspace from the moment you get engaged all the way to the wedding day itself that once it’s all over (in the blink of an eye), you’re left wondering ‘what do I do with all this new free time’? I’m sure the fact that we were engaged for two years with a delayed wedding thrown into the mix makes this newfound time feel more pronounced for us pandemic-era brides and grooms.
Anyway, in the weeks after the wedding and honeymoon, I feel like I’m starting to flex my creative muscles again, and boy does it feel good! Something I used to do long ago was what I called “The Perfect Pairing”. I would take jewelry and champagne, two things I love, and pair baubles with a bubbly cocktail. I would post the videos on YouTube, but they were long and it felt too dragged out for our increasingly short attention spans. That was before short-form video broke the floodgates. Now that TikTok and Instagram Reels have taken over, it got me thinking that these would be the perfect mediums for my “perfect pairings”. I’m sure nobody cares about this backstory, but it’s fun to feel reinvigorated!

For this pairing, we’re making a champagne Paloma. Palomas are super simple to make and make for a great summer drink, especially when you add some bubbly to the traditional recipe. I actually had my first introduction to Palomas fairly recently when we visited the Boca Beach Club in Boca Raton in late 2020. They had a frozen variety, which became Joe’s go-to daily drink at the pool and beach.
Prosecco Paloma Recipe

Prosecco Paloma
Ingredients
- Ice
- Prosecco
- 3 oz. Grapefruit Juice
- 1 tbsp. Lime Juice
- 1 shot Tequila
- Simple Syrup or Agave Nectar (optional for sweetness)
Directions
- Combine grapefruit juice, lime juice, and tequila in a glass of your choice. If you like your drink sweeter, add simple syrup. Stir.
- Add ice.
- Top it off with your desired amount of prosecco.
- Garnish with a lime or grapefruit slice.

The Baubles
The jewelry I paired with this cocktail are these gorgeous Lulu Frost Lotus statement earrings. My mom and I both bought ourselves a pair of these earrings because we loved them so much! They’re statement-making and are perfect for the summer, but can easily transition to a year-round piece.
I love that the colors are vibrant and bold without being too flashy. The uneven pattern of the Swarovski crystals adds a fun, whimsical element.
