Happy 2015 everyone! This is my first post of the new year, which seems crazy. Time is moving way too fast for me. I’m currently lounging in my bed as I write this, and binge-watching Family Guy. Yes, my guilty pleasure is Family Guy. I blame this on my brother, who got me hooked on the show years ago. Unfortunately, I got hit with a bug late last night, and am still feeling under the weather. My sickness has been a little bit of everything- cold sweats, body aches, dizziness, etc. The one good thing is that I’m sick during the weekend, so I can spend the next couple of days laying low in bed. Is anyone else happy that the holidays are over? I feel like I get so thrown off with work and life in general when the holidays roll around. I’m excited to start the year off fresh and get back on track!
1. I rang in 2015 with my boyfriend and friends at the Newport Syndicate this year. I wore a black BCBGeneration dress complete with tulle ruffles and mesh. It’s one of my favorite party dresses, and I wish I had an excuse to wear it more! My style tends to be dressier, and I wanted to keep my outfit glamorous, but in a more subtle way. That’s where these Gianni Bini heels come in. They were perfect for what I wanted to pull off with my outfit, and they were surprisingly comfortable, too!
2. I’m super excited about the gifts I got for Christmas this year. One of them was this incredible bar cart that my mom picked out. We had been looking at bar carts for awhile, but so many of them were way too expensive in my opinion. I love the retro vibe of this silver cart, and the price tag is even better! I haven’t taken mine out of the box yet, but I’m excited to set it up and put my own little twist on it.
3. The coolest present I got this year has got to be a Brother sewing machine. It wasn’t on my Christmas list, so I was completely shocked when I opened it. I’ve been wanting to learn how to sew since I was younger, but have been all talk up until now. Since I didn’t have a sewing machine, I didn’t really know where to start. Now that I have one, I have no more excuses, and cannot wait to learn! It’s always been a dream of mine to be able to make my own clothes, and I’m hoping once I learn the basics, I’ll be able to do that one day.
Pretty dress! Hope you feel better soon. Yay for the new sewing machine! I can barely sew a button on but would love to learn to sew one day. I once received some handmade placemats as a gift… the fabric is so pretty and the person who made them said they are not difficult to sew if you are looking for project ideas. 🙂
Thank you, Stephanie! Yes, I have ZERO sewing ability, but can’t wait to learn! Those placemats sound so pretty 🙂 Homemade gifts are so thoughtful!
Wow, your NYE outfit is chic! I hope you and your BF has a blast! Can’t wait to see what you do with that sewing machine!
Thanks girlfriend! The sewing will be quite the struggle at first, but I’m so excited to learn!
A sewing machine is a great gift! You’ll love the doors it will open for you in terms of DIYs and simple alterations. And that bar cart is amazing! Hope you feel better – there is definitely something going around right now so stay hydrated! 🙂
That’s what I’m excited about! I feel like I’ll get a lot more random talents once I learn how to work around a needle and thread!
