I recently talked about this coat in my February favorites video, and I wasn’t lying when I said I’ve been wearing it nonstop this winter. It’s my mom’s, and luckily it fits me like a glove. I love it because it’s clean cut and provides the perfect amount of warmth on those days that it’s not unbearably cold.
Another reason I love this outfit is because I can comfortably move around in it. I’m starting to realize how much I appreciate clothes that feel good and aren’t too restrictive. Over the weekend, I wore an outfit where everything was form fitting and hard to move around in. I didn’t notice how uncomfortable it was until I was already out, but I can’t explain how irritating it was. It was a reminder that I only like to wear one or two fitted pieces at a time, otherwise I feel like I’m in a straight jacket. If that doesn’t mean I’m getting older, I don’t know what does!
My weekend was a mix of downtime and socializing. Friday night I stayed in and spent the night organizing my receipts from the past year. It was time consuming to say the least, and it was a huge motivator to start keeping track of them more frequently. The rest of the weekend was spent doing things much more exciting than getting ready for taxes.
I hadn’t done this many social things all winter, and I think I’m starting to defrost and get back to my going out ways.
Saturday we celebrated my friend’s birthday, but the real cherry on top was getting to experience Nation’s brunch for the first time on Sunday. Elise and I both wanted to try it, and it did not disappoint! They’re big on tater tots, and so am I, so I knew it would be an instant love affair. Need proof? Check out what Elise ordered. It’s food porn at it’s finest.
Back to the outfit. If you read here often, you know I’m a fan of the clustered brooch look. I think they’re an effortless way to elevate a look and I put these two on everything. I think I’m going to explore some vintage stores here and see what kind of selection they have, because I’m eager to grow my brooch collection.

Oh my gosh, that brunch looks delicious. Tater tots are the best and I don’t know what’s on them (cheese??) but it looks amazing. Love that your mom has kept her coat with you 🙂 Also, I’ve worn my share of uncomfortable outfits – definitely changes the way you feel that day!
