Week In Review

Sorry for the silence on here this week! I’ve been pretty under the weather since last weekend, and just needed to give myself a break to get back on track. On top of not feeling well, I’ve been suffering from terrible back and neck pain. It’s something that stays persistently painful, but really flared up this week. It was so bad, that I actually couldn’t sleep at night and had a few anxiety attacks because of it.

After a massage, I’m feeling much better and ready to celebrate my birthday weekend! Tonight I’m heading to dinner with Joe and his brother, and tomorrow we’ll be making the drive up 75 to mine and Joe’s alma mater, UD. His cousin is graduating this weekend, and in typical UD fashion you party the entire day before graduation. It’s going to feel weird heading back there because I haven’t been in four years. Ugh, I feel so old typing this.

My mom showed me this cake a few weeks ago from Sprinkle Bakes, and I have not been able to get it out of my head. She introduced me to Heather’s incredible blog, and I wish I had an ounce of her baking talent. A pink champagne cake with edible gold leaf? Is there a cake more perfect for me than this one? I don’t think so…

I love baking, and I suggested to my mom that we tackle this cake together. Kind of like a joint Mother’s Day and birthday cake. Since I’ve been so under the weather this week, that plan got derailed. I’m hoping in the next week or two we’ll find some time to bake this masterpiece ourselves.

It feels like it’s been awhile since I’ve bought some new jewelry. When the seasons transition, it can take me awhile to figure out how my jewelry tastes change. As the temperatures start to get warmer, I still like jewelry that makes a statement, but isn’t necessarily as heavy. That’s why I’m loving this Vanessa Mooney necklace. It’s layered, but the chains are still thin, and I am in love with the marbled stone pendants.

If you have problems with your lipstick sticking around all day, then this Refinery29 article is a must read! I almost always wear a pigmented lip color, so mine really wears down throughout the day. I loved the idea of using translucent powder to keep your lipstick in place. Also, this was a much-needed reminder that I need to exfoliate my lips more. Wearing heavy products all day really does a number on my lips and I definitely don’t pamper them like I should.

Have a good weekend!
