Structured Mint

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Bar III clothing, I suggest you get acquainted with it immediately! Bar III is a brand exclusive to Macy’s, and first hit the retailer’s shelves in March of 2011. Their collection has something to satisfy everyone’s fashion palette, with pieces that range from edgy to feminine. The brand offers all the latest trends, but does it in a way that the pieces will still be stylish years from now. That’s what immediately drew me to this structured mint dress. Peplum has been having a major moment for the past year and a half, and I love the simple peplum detail on this dress. The peplum accent doesn’t overwhelm the dress, so I could easily wear this even after the peplum trend is long gone!

The best part is the reasonable price point. You could pick up a few items in one shopping trip without breaking the bank! I have quite a few Bar III pieces, and the quality is amazing for the affordable price you’re paying.

Side story: In the summer of 2009 while I was home from college, I worked at Macy’s as a fitting room attendant. Being the naive 19-year-old that I was, I thought this would be a glamorous job of being surrounded by clothes all day. While I was surrounded by clothes all day, it was far from glamorous! Since I was a newbie, I worked ten hour shifts Thursday-Sunday. Instead of going out on the weekends that summer, I was calling my mom at 10 p.m. on my drive home asking her to prepare a hot bath with epsom salts. I officially felt like an old lady. Not only did my feet hurt, but I grew to hate clothes and shopping. I convinced myself my shopping days were over after being surrounded by mounds and mounds of clothes day after day. Luckily (or unluckily for my bank account) after months of steering clear of the mall, I was able to overcome my hard feelings and reintroduce myself to my love for fashion.

The classic structure of this dress with the fun mint color is such a perfect combination! PS Don’t worry with my first job being at Cold Stone I learned to hate ice cream, I too re-introduced myself to my love for that haha:)

Haha I would looove if I could hate ice cream and not eat so much of it! When you’re surrounded by something constantly you get so turned off by it! I didn’t go into a Macy’s for the longest time after that! Aren’t first jobs the best?

Such a pretty color! I love this dress Olivia! I think it has the perfect amount of peplum (as you mentioned). And your little side story made me laugh. Funny how we perceive things in our minds!

There’s nothing glamorous about retail. lol. I learned the hard way as well. 🙂 This color and dress is perfection on you. You look fabulous, love. If you get a sec, I’d love to hear your thoughts on my photo diary from Venice. xo

Thank you! Retail definitely isn’t fun. I was supposed to go back and work during my Christmas break, but was so traumatized from the summer that I just couldn’t do it! That’s great you were able to endure years worth. You definitely have more patience than me 🙂

I love this! Such a darling color and shape. And ohhh retail, I remember that feeling from working in college. My first day at a boutique I wore heels for a 9-hour shift– don’t think I sat down once and still have nightmares about it till this day! 😛
