You may remember this anchor print top from this post about a month ago. I wore it to work the other day since I’m going to have to pack it away for the year pretty soon. I usually style this top the same way every time I wear it, which is paired with white bottoms. To take a break from my end of summer white-wearing frenzy, I decided to mix prints and opt for a striped H&M skirt.
My mom got me this skirt a few summers ago, and I’ll admit that I haven’t really worn it that much. I mainly couldn’t figure out what top to wear with it, which is strange since this skirt is pretty basic! I always envisioned a formfitting navy top with it, but never got around to actually finding one. As a result, this flattering and comfortable skirt was banished to the back of my closet, rarely seeing the light of day. I’m one of those people who likes to have their outfit planned out the night before, or else I’ll stay up all night putting together outfits in my head. I already obsess too much about clothes, so the last thing I need to do is lose sleep over it! In my state of exhaustion, I tried to put together an outfit as quickly as possible so I could fall asleep to Friends reruns on Nick at Nite. I picked out my only two navy and white pieces of clothing, and called it a day, not even considering how they’d look together. Luckily, the combination turned out well, and I’ve found my new go-to summer/work/warm/comfortable look!
Top: J.Crew (similar) | Skirt: H&M (similar) | Shoes: Reaction Kenneth Cole (similar)| Cuff: Tiffany
I absolutely adore these patterns together! (And I know it’s still warm in the states, but the blue hues are BIG in European stores for fall right now.)
I think you could def rock this look in winter too (with a long peacoat of course) What do you think? 🙂 XOXO
Thank you, Katie! I’ve been seeing so much navy for fall, and I love it! It’s a nice change from the traditional black that people wear in the winter.
Loving the navy and blue color palette. Really cute style!
Thank you!
I love this look!! The two prints look amazing together. I also tend to plan my outfits the night before. Otherwise, I end up late in the morning.
Thanks, Grace! I would probably be late, too. I can rest so much easier knowing everything is put together for the next morning!
I really love that skirt. I don’t think I’d ever have thought to pair it with a patterned top but it looks really great!
Thanks, Rebecca! I hadn’t either, but in my state of exhaustion I picked two things with the same color scheme and it ended up working!
Love the outfit, would never have had the confidence to clash prints like this myself but it looks gorgeous… I’m going to have to broaden my horizons and give it a go!

I bought a striped skirt similar to that at the gap this summer, and i always paired it a mint sweater or solid colors. This is great inspiration!
Thank you! I always paired my striped skirt with solids, too, so it was fun to switch it up!
Cute print mixing! Stripes are my favorite!
Thank you, Stephanie! I agree, stripes are so great!
