Two hours before I started typing this I got hit pretty hard with an immediate need for dessert. I encountered a few problems, though. One, I had just gotten out of the shower, so I was not about to go out and get some. Two, even if I did muster up the energy to put some makeup on, I have a bad nut allergy that prohibits me from eating desserts pretty much everywhere. When in doubt, I head over to my favorite food website Food Gawker for some inspiration and motivation. I’m a lemon addict, so I was on the hunt for some simple lemon cookies to satisfy my craving. I think this is the first time ever I didn’t have lemons in the fridge, so I decided to go with a basic sugar cookie.
I ended up finding this sugar cookie bar recipe, and making it immediately. Since I’m not a big strawberry girl and didn’t have lemons, I used the raspberries in the fridge and whipped up a frosting found here. Long story short, sometimes you gotta get crafty with what you have when you have a craving you can’t kick. If any of you like raspberries as much as I do, I highly recommend this raspberry buttercream frosting. It was AMAZING and tasted so fresh!
I wanted to do an outfit post today, but the weather has been pretty gross, and I don’t think anyone wants to see the fur ball that forms on my head in humidity. Crossing my fingers for tomorrow! PS- If anyone has any good nut-free recipes, please share them with me. I’m always making new desserts to satisfy my random cravings!
*Also, head over to The Ohio Transplant today, where I’m being featured! Aimee is an Ohio native turned San Fran resident, who I’ve become good friends with through blogging. She is the absolute sweetest, and has amazing style!
So sorry about your allergy. That can be very frightening. Nuts are put in so many things nowadays and it’s too bad they can’t always be seen, smelled or tasted. You have done a great job here with this snack.
Thank you! Yeah, nuts have gotten pretty out of control the past few years. I’ve had way too many close calls unfortunately.
Oooh, these look and sound so lovely!
Happy Thursday, babe!

Late night cravings are the death of me! Luckily, I’m more of a salt girl over sugar!
