Today’s outfit came together last minute when I was in a rush to pick out a brunch outfit. It was one of those situations where you feel like you can’t find anything to wear, and anything you manage to scramble together isn’t going to look particularly good. My mom and I went to brunch two weekends ago, and I had zero clue what to wear. Luckily, it seems like the spring weather is here to stay, which means getting dressed will be a whole lot easier.
Urban Outfitters shirt dress
It didn’t feel like sleeveless weather, but also I didn’t need to wear pants. After staring blankly at my closet (don’t we all have those moments?), I dug out this black and white Urban Outfitters shirt dress from the depths of my closet. This bad boy is about three years old, and I totally forgot I had it. I’m one of those people who associates everything with a past memory, and this spotted dress is no exception.
This dress reminds me of the first DSLR camera I ever bought. I had been doing months and months of research (classic) on what I wanted my first camera splurge to be. When I finally went to Best Buy and sealed the deal, I literally sped home just so I could start playing with it. I think this is when I first realized and accepted the fact that I had become a huge technology geek. I never thought I would get so into gadgets and tech, but now I can’t seem to get enough of it!
Anyway, once I got home, I snapped pictures of anything I could. I annoyed my family by taking candids of them, I went outside and took pictures of trees, and I eventually begged my mom to take an outfit picture for me. I had just bought this dress, and threw it on. And I was so in love with the picture quality of my new camera that it also made me fall more in love with this dress.
I’m not really sure how to categorize the print. I call it Dalmatian, but you could also say “speckled” or “spotted”.
Whatever you call it, I discovered that a shirt dress is the perfect option for spring brunch. It’s forgiving and let’s you comfortably move around before or after the big meal. Maybe it’s just me, but this outfit gives me major retro vibes. I think it’s the sunglasses. I never used to be a sunglass person, but boy do they mask baggy eyes.
