Checkered

I had admired this Madewell top for quite some time before it appeared in my Easter basket. Luckily, I was shopping with the “Easter Bunny” a week before the big day, so I was able to drop a hint about this blouse. I’ve always been a sucker for anything gingham, and this top was no exception. As much as I love a traditional cotton gingham shirt, they aren’t the most ideal top to wear for a day/night out. What I loved about this Madewell blouse is that it’s 100% silk, making it a dressier option than the traditional gingham button-down.

I’m sure I’m not the only one with this problem, but sometimes I feel like all my clothes are either too dressy or too casual. I feel like I can never find anything that’s juuust right for whatever plans I may have. I feel like this top is going to become my new go-to in those moments where I just can’t find the perfect thing to wear. A classic, casual pattern in a dressier, more expensive texture? It’s like the best of both worlds! I also love shirts that have the ability to be rolled up or worn as long sleeves. Today’s look is daytime-inspired, but I think I could easily transition this into the night. I’d probably unroll the sleeves, add lots of bracelets, and of course throw on some black leather pants or shorts!

Note to self: Get a spray tan pronto. My legs are pretty ghostly after the long winter!

Followed your link from my blog and I just wanted to say I really like your style. Also I totally have the same thing with that formal/casual gap.

I think my comment went funny but forgive me if this shows up twice.
