Pop of Neon

I’ve always thought of pencil skirts as a piece of clothing that takes itself way too seriously. To me, they were boring, restrictive, and simply not cute. I filed them away in my “I’m never going to wear this in my life” category, and focused on buying the clothes that I was interested in. That fantasy came to a screeching halt when I graduated college and realized that I was now in the real world. In the real world, people have jobs and have to wear business attire (e.g. pencil skirts). Much to my delight, J.Crew has an amazing assortment of pencil skirts. This was quite the revelation for someone who had convinced herself that pencil skirts only came in black.

After entering pencil skirt heaven (J.Crew), I now realize that the styling possibilities are endless. These colorful, textural skirts can be worn to the office and beyond. I love the way the neon and purple complemented each other, creating a fun yet work-appropriate outfit!

Pencil skirts do have the tendency to be boring, but there are so many great ways to style them that make them WAY less boring! I love them with a peplum top. Love your purple skirt. You look adorable!
