I was instantly excited when I received an email from ClassPass saying they were coming to Cincinnati. I had been familiar with the fitness startup for a couple years now and absolutely loved the concept behind it.
ClassPass is a flat-rate monthly subscription service that allows you to take classes at a wide range of participating fitness studios in your city. When I saw the list of available studios in Cincinnati, I was so excited because there were so many places I had been wanting to try out.
The aspect I love most about ClassPass is that it encourages you to experiment. There are so many different types of fitness options, so there truly is something for everyone. ClassPass allows you to participate in yoga, cycling, barre, pilates, rowing, CrossFit and more. It’s nice because sometimes going all in and committing to one studio or type of workout can feel daunting and intimidating. Plus, if you get bored easily like I do there’s a chance you lose interest if you continue doing the same exact exercise time after time. Being able to choose whatever type of class you want to do at any particular time is priceless.
So far, I’ve attended two new classes thanks to ClassPass. The first was a barre class at The Barre Code and the second was yoga at The Yoga Bar. I’ve taken both barre and yoga classes before, but I’ve always been interested in practicing them at other studios to switch it up a bit.
It was so convenient to log in to my ClassPass account and search by date, time, type of workout, and location to narrow down which class I wanted to take. I love that each studio has its own page on the ClassPass website that breaks down what you need to do to prepare for class, a map of where it’s located, reviews, and other classes you can sign up for. It’s really streamlined and easy to use, which I like since I tend to signup for workout classes at the last minute due to my schedule.
My barre class at The Barre Code was tough but in the best way possible! We spent a lot of time on arm workouts, which I really liked because not all fitness classes give your arms attention. The studio space was clean and modern, and the music was perfect to pump you up for a workout. They also have lockers and pampering stations that are perfect for some post-class primping. The staff was extremely welcoming and informative, which I appreciate because going to a new studio for the first time can be intimidating! Michelle, the owner of The Barre Code, was incredibly nice and I’m looking forward to taking more classes there.
The next class I took was a gentle flow yoga class at The Yoga Bar in Over-the-Rhine. I had seen pictures of the dreamy space online before, so I was excited to get a chance to check it out in real life. The studio is filled with exposed brick and hardwood floors, and tons of windows that let in plenty of natural light. The gentle flow class sounded perfect for a Sunday evening class, and it proved to be just that. The space was calming and relaxing, and the class was effective without being too tough. I also learned that I am now completely in love with pigeon pose!
