I don’t think there’s a more iconic combination than black, white, and red. If I’m ever in an outfit rut, I can always count on a black sweater and a red lip to pull through in a pinch.
I’ve been really excited about a couple new pieces I added to my closet a few months ago. First up are these skinny black overalls from Madewell. I’ll admit it took me a couple years to jump back on the overall bandwagon. I loved them when I was younger, but the thought of wearing them as an adult sounded uncomfortable and restricting. The more I saw them styled, however, the more I decided I needed to give them a go.
I started my black overall search, but honestly, it was a struggle to find the perfect pair. I definitely wanted something with a slim, structured fit without a lot of extra embellishments (I have this weird aversion to extra/unnecessary hardware on my clothes and accessories). When I was about to throw in the towel on my black overall search, it hit me to go to the Madewell website and it was a success! I found these skinny overalls that were tailored and simply designed. They have a raw hemline, so I trimmed the frayed edges up a bit when they arrived to give it a cleaner look.
Another piece I was excited about buying was this red beret. I actually ordered it back in August, but it didn’t arrive until September. I was anxiously awaiting fall to come just so I could wear this beret! The color is so bold and vivid, and I love all the different outfit combinations you can wear with it. In addition to a red beret, I also have a beige beret that I wore in this blog post.
The weather has definitely taken a turn for the freezing in the last week, so I think the days of no heavy coats are over. When I shot these photos a couple weeks ago, the weather was amazing, but we got snow over the weekend, so our warm weather streak has sadly come to an end!

Thank you, Alissa!
When I saw you post this look I was absolutely obsessed! I loveee the combination of black, stripes and red, and think it looks so chic! I was leery of the overall trend too, but now am thinking I need to hop on the bandwagon because they’re so cute!
